About Us

Mission Statement

Students for Life is a single issue group focused on providing the University of Maryland campus with information on the abortion issue. Students for Life forms our principle philosophy on the scientific certainty that human life begins at fertilization, or conception (be it artificial or natural). Thus, we hold that any attack on a human being from his/her beginning to birth is unethical. We take no position on the prevention of the uniting of sperm and egg. Once fertilization, i.e., the uniting of sperm and egg, has occurred, a new life has begun and we are opposed to the destruction of that innocent human life.

We are non-partisan and non-sectarian. Although politicians and religious organizations take positions on the abortion issue, we consider abortion a human issue that is applicable to all human beings. Thus we welcome members from all or no political and religious affiliations.
