Ladder Rules Challenges are requested to the assigned officer, who then alerts both parties. Once the notice email has been sent out by the officer, the challenger will then contact his opponent and the two players must agree on a time and play the match within 7 days. If one of the players does not respond or does not show up to the match, they forfeit the match. 7 days is a reasonable amount of time to fit in a tennis match, so if the player being challenged is unable to offer at least one possible playing date, they will forfeit the match. If the challenger wins the match, he/she assumes the player's spot, and the player along with everyone in between their rankings moves down one position. All men's ladder matches will be played in a regular 2 sets out of 3 format, with ad scoring and a tie-breaker at 6 all in any set. All women's ladder matches will be played in an 8-game pro set format, with tie-breaker at 8 all. The challenger must provide a new can of USTA approved tennis balls. * Injured / unavailable players -- They can retain their spot, but MUST PLAY ANY and ALL pending challenge matches before being allowed to play in a match for the team. Please inform Alex or Anita if you are injured and are unable to play. ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT: You must attend at least 50% of the practices each semester in order to remain on the ladder. One practice a week is not that much of a committment, so no exceptions! |
