Nikkee, I'm incredibly pro-choice, but your argument is an
embarrassment. Do us a favor and stop trying to do us favors.
Those who are pro-life view abortion as the intentional
killing of what is supposedly equivalent to a born adult's
life. Telling them to just deal with the fact we have
different opinions is like telling them to accept
institutionalized murder of a class of people we deem
unworthy. Any morally upright person won't simply stand by and
watch a great injustice done, which is what they believe is
happening.
I think they're dead wrong to consider a fetus a person and
the killing of it morally equivalent to murder, but they do
and I respect that and know better than to say "it's
controversial so leave it alone." Guess what? Slavery was
controversial in its time... but that doesn't mean it was ok
for people to say "well it is controversial so we'll ignore it
and stop anti-slave owners from pushing their morals on us
slave owners. Don't like slavery? Don't have one!" To try to
shrug the issue off with a "you have your views I have mine"
mentality is utterly ridiculous and embarrassing for the rest
of us who would call ourselves pro-choice.
"Birth control IS NOT a form of abortion — it is a
responsible
choice that prevents unwanted pregnancies..."
Except in those very rare instances where the birth control
pill acts as an abortaficient. If you believe a human person's
life starts at *conception* then a fertilized egg being unable
to implant is equivalent to an abortion. The birth control
pill prevents fertilized eggs from implanting into the uterus
and thus can be considered an abortaficient.
While generally I agree with what you are trying to say, you
do a piss poor job of saying it.
Used by permission.
